Photogrammetry provides a reliable and fast method for acquiring crime / accident scene data in order to make
measurements for forensic investigations. The big advantage of using the photogrammetric approach is that once the photography is acquired and georeferenced the road can be opened again saving significant amounts of money (the British police estimate £100,000 an hour for a major road closure).
The stereo images can then be used to reconstruct the scene in 3 Dimensions, import basemaps (DXF, LIDAR etc.) if required to give a big picture. In the UK Imagemaster is being actively used by Warwickshire, South Wales, Jersey and Cumbria forces.
