    Can the Sigma SD-1 camera be used for photogrammetry? It has 14MP and a fixed focal length lens.

    Looks like an ideal camera. We will get some factory feedback, but from what I've seen there should be no problem.

    The only reason I wondered was, as described on http://www.foveon.com/article.php?a=67, the sensor has three layers of pixels to detect RGB colours. Since there are three planes I thought the sensing planes may be different.

    The Foveon sensor can be usually used in photogrammetry/Calibration. I think that there is a possibility that three double precisions
    improves from a usual camera because the Foveon sensor is expressible of RGB of it by one pixel.

    Then I only have to solve the problem of remote control if I'm going to use it with a Helikite.

    Hi Lucas,

    The helikite has quite a limited payload of around 200g. I find the Ricoh GRD II an excellent camera (see a recent shot of my house taken with it below).

    There is no remote trigger - I just put a 2GB SD card in it and set it using the internal software to take a picture every 10 seconds. you then choose the best shots afterwards. Other solutions on remote triggering can be found at www.kapshop.com and the very helpful Peter Bults.

    Now, I have been using the camera with good result at a rock surface(H100m L250m) at a distance of 75m.
    10 photos 9 pair.
    The result is compared with scanning and totalstation data.
